Dead Fish

A Linocut Project

This project came about as a result of a painting I had created called 'Omega Three' which sold at a private viewing of my solo exhibition at Stantonbury Gallery in Milton Keynes. Although I had guided many students through the process of linocut, in my capacity as an Arts Technician working for an upper school, I hadn't actually created one for myself. As I was about to begin teaching linocut to a group of adults locally, I thought I had better make some examples and needed a good strong and striking image to base them on.

The royalty free photo of the dead fish had been the inspiration for the painting and had all the right attributes for converting to a graphic image good enough to make a decent linocut plate, and so I set about the task in hand.

The slideshow below comprises the many images I took as I went about the project and although I wish they were of better quality, I feel they are adequate in showing my progress and results.
